Open to opportunities

Hi, I'm Balaji.Computer Science Engineer building with cloud, AI/ML and modern web technologies.

I design and ship systems end to end: the infrastructure underneath, the models that make them useful, and the interfaces people actually touch. Most of my work lives at the seam between cloud platforms and applied machine learning.

01Selected work

The work I'd point at first

Each of these began as a problem I ran into myself, got built end to end, and is running somewhere today. Source is open for all of them.

Cloudledger

Cost visibility for small teams running on AWS

A self-hosted dashboard that turns Cost Explorer data into something a small team will actually read: which service moved, which environment caused it, and what it will cost by month-end. Built after watching a side project quietly triple its bill over a weekend.

  • Lambda
  • DynamoDB
  • Terraform

Graino

On-device crop disease detection for low-connectivity fields

A vision model that identifies eleven common crop diseases from a phone photo and runs entirely offline. Trained on PlantVillage plus a locally collected set, then distilled and quantised down to 4 MB so it works on the mid-range Android phones that farmers actually carry.

Shipyard

A GitOps delivery pipeline you can read in one sitting

An opinionated reference pipeline that takes a commit to production through build, scan, sign, and progressive rollout — with every stage written out plainly instead of hidden behind a marketplace action. Deliberately small enough to fit in your head, which is the whole point.

02Capabilities

What I work with

Grouped by practice rather than ranked by confidence. A number next to a logo tells you nothing, so I've written what I actually do with each group instead.

03Experience

Where I've worked

Internships and community work, most recent first — the places I learned how software behaves once other people depend on it.

  1. Jan 2026 — Present

    Current

    Cloud Engineering Intern

    Nimbus SystemsRemoteInternship

Working on the internal delivery platform — the Terraform modules, container base images, and pipelines that every product team deploys through.

    • Rebuilt the staging environment as reusable Terraform modules, cutting new-service provisioning from a day of manual setup to a single merge.
    • Added container image scanning and policy gates to CI so vulnerable base layers fail the build instead of reaching staging.

    • AWS
    • Docker
    • GitHub Actions
    • Kubernetes
  2. May 2025 — Aug 2025

    Machine Learning Intern

    Verdant AnalyticsChennai, INInternship

Took a document-classification prototype from a research notebook to a versioned service the product team could call.

    • Restructured the training pipeline around reproducible runs and a held-out evaluation set, replacing ad-hoc notebook accuracy checks.
    • Shipped the model behind a FastAPI endpoint with batching and a cached tokenizer, holding p95 latency under 200 ms.

  3. Aug 2024 — Apr 2025

    Technical Lead

    Campus Developer CommunityOn campusOpen Source

Ran the build side of the student developer community — workshops, project mentoring, and the tooling everyone used.

    • Led hands-on sessions on Git, containers, and cloud fundamentals for roughly 120 students across two semesters.
    • Mentored four project teams through their first end-to-end deployment, including CI and environment configuration.

06Writing

Notes from the work

Nothing published yet

The writing is in progress.

I'd rather post one thing worth reading than five posts written to fill a page. When a project teaches me something non-obvious, it ends up here.
